For years, fans have speculated—will we ever see Van Halen return to the stage? While Eddie’s tragic passing in 2020 seemed to close the book on the band’s legacy, rumors of a tribute tour or even a reunion have refused to die. And now, Sammy Hagar apparently dropped a major hint, and Wolfgang Van Halen has been thrown into the mix.

Hagar has always been open about his willingness to celebrate Van Halen’s music in a way that feels right. He’s expressed interest in a proper tribute, but only if it was done the right way—with respect, with passion, and with the right people involved.

The former Van Halen singer shared Black Sabbath’s lineup for the final concert and wrote on Instagram: “How could anyone refuse to be in this lineup!” “Flying High Again’ and ‘Rock Candy’ got my choice of guitar, bass, drums guess who I’m gonna be jamming with.”

It’s no secret that Hagar and Wolfgang have maintained a strong relationship over the years. They’ve appeared at multiple events together, and Wolfgang even played with Hagar’s supergroup The Circle. While Wolfgang has remained adamant about focusing on his own music, he’s never ruled out paying tribute to his father’s legacy under the right circumstances.

Fans wasted no time speculating that Hagar was hinting at jamming with Alex Van Halen, Michael Anthony, and Wolfgang Van Halen. One fan wrote, ‘Imagine Sammy with Alex Van Halen on drums, Wolfgang Van Halen on guitar, and Michael Anthony on bass for this.’ Another chimed in, ‘You HAVE to have Wolf join you for an old-school Van Halen song… if he’ll do it.’ And perhaps the most intriguing comment: ‘Is it just me, or have you and Wolf been doing a lot of events together lately?’”

Black Sabbath will reunite for a final concert on July 5th in Birmingham. The original lineup will play together one last time at Villa Park. The charity event, ‘Back to the Beginning,’ will support Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice.

Wolfgang Van Halen was already announced as one of the names who will perform in the concert alongside Metallica, Slayer, Pantera and more.
