Former Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts guitarist Doug Grean has announced on Facebook that a new Scott Weiland record will be released in September. It will be Weiland’s first posthumous record, and his first album since 2015, when he released Blaster and Art of Anarchy’s self-titled album before his December 2015 death.

Tyrant wrote on BelowEmpty.com, “Quick details given by Doug in the comments: – No record company involved, they are going to sell the record through NFT, but everyone will still be able to listen. – A newly mixed version of “I Know It’s Too Late” is included – Doug describing the record: “left overs basically. But great songs. And one new one I finished with his son.”

Bradleynowellsguitar wrote on Reddit, “Demos and unreleased Tiny Music era recordings, and a new Weiland album? 2021 is not a bad year for us STP fans lol.”

Splanchick78 recently posted on the STP Reddit as well, “Apologies if this has been asked before – I recently noticed that there is a deluxe edition of Purple on Spotify (woo hoo!) and there are “early versions” of Meatplow and Interstate Love Song. What’s the story with these? The music sounds finished but the lyrics are out of order or just kind of mumbly sounds. Was that the songwriting process – Weiland would figure out what he wanted the lyrics to sound like and figured out the actual words later? TIA for any info.”
