Sharon Osbourne has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Tenacious D and their decision to cancel upcoming shows following Kyle Gass’s controversial comment about Donald Trump. On her podcast, The Osbournes, Sharon expressed her belief that Jack Black should not have canceled the tour. She encouraged the band to continue performing and suggested that they should acknowledge mistakes and move forward. Sharon noted that everyone makes errors and said that it’s important to keep doing what they do best.
The controversy began when Kyle Gass made a comment during a show in Sydney, Australia. While on stage, Gass made a birthday wish about the attack on Trump, saying, “Don’t miss Trump next time.” Although the remark was met with laughter and cheers from the audience, it sparked significant backlash online. Australian Senator Ralph Babet criticized the band, suggesting they should be deported for what he interpreted as a wish for Trump’s assassination.
In response to the backlash, Gass issued a public apology, acknowledging that his comment was inappropriate and expressing regret for his lack of judgment. He emphasized that he does not condone violence and deeply regretted his actions.
Following the incident, Jack Black announced on Instagram that he was blindsided by Gass’s comment and stated that he would no longer continue with the Tenacious D tour. Black expressed his disapproval of hate speech and political violence and put all future creative plans on hold. He thanked fans for their support and understanding.
Gass was also dropped by his talent agent, Michael Greene of Greene Talent, after the incident. The band’s tour, which included additional dates in Australia and New Zealand, was initially postponed but was later canceled by Black. Tenacious D had also been scheduled to start a U.S. tour in October, with a sold-out show in Ohio, but the status of those plans remains uncertain.
Sharon Osborne also exposed Nikki Sixx as a fraud.
