Brantley Gilbert Details Why He Joined TPUSA Halftime Show
Brantley Gilbert has addressed questions around his upcoming appearance at Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show,” an alternative concert set to air during Super Bowl LX. The country-rock singer said he understood some fans may view the event through a political lens, but stressed his motivation is personal and rooted in family and long-standing support for US service members.
Gilbert said he accepted the offer because he pictured his children watching him perform during the biggest game in American football, Taste of Country reported.
In comments attributed to his social media statement, Gilbert added, “I respect that some people may see this differently, but I’m not playing this show to be divisive,” before describing his faith and what he called a dedication to the men and women who serve, plus the families of those who have died in service. He also referenced his personal story and how he shares it through his music in hopes it can help others through difficult periods.
The All-American Halftime Show lineup also includes Kid Rock, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett, and it is being billed as an alternative to the Super Bowl LX halftime entertainment. Related coverage of the wider debate around the event has continued, including a recent Alternative Nation report in which an ex-SNL figure defended Kid Rock’s involvement.
According to the same report, Turning Point USA plans to stream the performance on YouTube and also distribute it via additional digital platforms, with several television outlets also slated to carry it. Super Bowl LX is scheduled to kick off at 5:30 p.m. CT, placing halftime shortly after 7 p.m. CT.
