Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash claimed that he accidentally overpaid his ex-wife, Perla Ferrar, $1.5 million in spousal support due to an accounting error.
The guitarist, legal name Saul Hudson, recently filed a request in Los Angeles County court asking a judge to let him deduct the overpaid amount from his future payments.
Slash pays Ferrar $100,000 a month, along with additional quarterly amounts tied to his income above certain thresholds. A failure to adjust those extra payments over time led to the overpayment.
“Slash pays Perla $100,000 a month, plus additional quarterly amounts tied to his income above certain thresholds. He says his business manager failed to adjust those extra payments when the maximum Perla could receive dropped over the years, which he says led to the overpayments. The result, Slash claims, was $3.42 million in additional support each year when the amounts should have been capped in 2021, 2022, and 2023, which he says amounts to him overpaying by $1.5 million across the three-year stretch.”
Slash also addressed the matter directly in his court filing. He highlighted his compliance with the original judgment and the role his longtime business manager played in the miscalculation.
“I have faithfully supported [Ferrar] for the last 11.5 years, and followed our judgment with regard to the payments due to her. I have tasked my business manager, Pam Malek of Focus Partners, who has been working with me since 2015, with the calculation and payment of the funds due by me to [Ferrar].”
The court has yet to rule on Slash’s request to apply the alleged overpayment as a credit against his upcoming spousal support obligations.
