Slipknot’s Knotfest music festival was recently interrupted due to severe weather conditions.

Knotfest officials issue statement

“Thank you for coming to Knotfest Iowa,” the festival officials released a statement on Instagram. “At this point, we’re in a permanent evacuation due to severe weather. Please safely exit the venue and head home.”

“KNOTFEST IOWA | Attention: Due to the threat of incoming severe weather, set times have been adjusted to accommodate all acts for the best possible experience,” they also shared another message just hours before the evacuation. “Dying Wish – 6 pm, Till Lindemann – 630 pm, Gwar – 7 pm, Slipknot – 8 pm.”

Slipknot managed to stay on stage for less than one hour as fans wrote in the comment section. Still, most fans seemed content with their performance although they found it short.

Besides Slipknot, some other acts were Till Lindemann from Rammstein, Knocked Loose, Hatebreed, Poison the Well, GWAR, and Vended, which has sons of some Slipknot members. Vended had played in Indianola back in 2021 and has performed at Wooly’s in East Village several times since.

Slipknot has had a lineup change since their last performance in Knotfest. Last November, longtime drummer Jay Weinberg parted ways with the band. Soon after, Slipknot replaced him with Eloy Casagrande, who left the metal band Sepultura earlier this year.

“I think we just kinda went, ‘You know what? Let’s just tell people,’” Corey Taylor said about why they chose Casagrande. “It was really as simple as that, you know? Eloy was the only one who was brave enough to get in the room with us. There were a handful of other people that we were looking at, and none of them wanted to jam with us.”

The singer added, “They just wanted to do their own thing and send it in — a very TikTok thing, you know? And we were like, ‘That’s not the way this works, dude.’ Eloy rearranged his schedule to come see us. He was so hungry to jam and just see what would happen that we were immediately impressed just by that alone.”

Slipknot will perform in Louder Than Life on September 26. The band will also have a show at Aftershock Festival on October 11.
