Smashing Pumpkins New Single With Original Lineup Announced: ‘First Time In 20 Years’

The Smashing Pumpkins will release their new single “Solara” on Friday, according to Alt 92.9 Boston. The announcement of the single falsely claims that it features the original lineup together for the first time in over 20 years, as D’arcy Wretzky is not featured on the track and Jeff Schroeder was not in the original lineup. It is the first song recorded by Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin since 2000’s “Untitled” single.

The Smashing Pumpkins will perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on June 11th. Below is the “Solara” release announcement posted by Alt 92.9:

Los Angeles, CA – May 29, 2018 – Due to overwhelming demand for a second New York area show, GRAMMY® Award-winning, acclaimed alternative rock pioneers, The Smashing Pumpkins today announced a special 30th anniversary performance at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ on August 2, 2018. Fans can expect special guests, a career-spanning set list, never before seen production, and more surprises from this momentous performance under the stars. Indie rock band Metric will provide support.

Tickets for the show will go on sale to the general public starting this Friday June 1, 2018 at 10:00am local time and be available at www.smashingpumpkins.com, LiveNation.com, and via the Live Nation App. Additional special 30th anniversary shows are expected to be announced in the coming months.

This July, The Smashing Pumpkins will embark on the Shiny And Oh So Bright North American arena tour. Produced by Live Nation, the tour is the band’s first in nearly 20 years to feature founding members Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha. Longtime Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder, bassist Jack Bates, and keyboardist Katie Cole will also take part, as the band moves to a three guitar lineup to better emulate the signature tones and textures of their albums. The Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour will kick off in Glendale, AZ on July 12, 2018 and visit arenas throughout the summer. Metric will support them on the tour.
