Billy Corgan has confirmed that work is continuing on the MACHINA reissue, offering a first look at how he is reviewing MACHINA II, 20 years after the album’s release. Corgan has discussed the reissue over the last couple of years, and how there will be a definitive MACHINA, featuring never before heard songs that were never completed in 2000 with new parts recorded by James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin.

The Smashing Pumpkins are also expected to release a new album this year, Shiny and Oh So Bright Vol. 2.

Raffi_n1 posted on Reddit, “Has Billy given any update on when an announcement will be made about the albums release? I believe I recall him saying a few months back that it’d be a spring release

Technically there’s only 2 weeks left of spring. Getting a lil antsy!”

TheHeinousMelvins responded, “A few months back COVID wasn’t in full swing, so I imagine the status of the world currently has affected the release of it. Has happened to multiple other band’s album releases as well.

I’m sure Billy will tell us when it’s ready.”

Jhonn0 commented, “I mostly heard that rather than a specific time of year, he said it would be out this year. The state of the world right now is impacting the release schedules of many bands; they may have more time to logistics in place, but there’s probably minimal production and promo stuff going on in the industry; the last thing he probably wants is for it to be released with next to no promo.”
