Soundgarden have posted a black photo on their Facebook page. It is the first social media update from the band following Chris Cornell’s death last week. Cornell’s Facebook profile picture and cover photo are also now all black.

Soundgarden/Pearl Jam/Temple of the Dog drummer Matt Cameron offered the first public reaction of a surviving member of Soundgarden to Chris Cornell’s death last week.

“My dark knight is gone,” he wrote on Facebook. “Thank you for the incredible outpouring of kindness and love.”

Pearl Jam/Temple of the Dog guitarist Mike McCready also discussed Cornell’s death in a Seattle Times article.

“Chris Cornell painted in song the darkness and beauty of life in Seattle,” said McCready.

“Chris means a lot to me today, as he trusted me to play on Temple,” McCready said last Thursday. “He handed me a dream in getting to actually play on beautiful songs. Informed how I would play on Pearl Jam records in the future, I believe. Gave me the break into the music business I’d wanted since I was 11.

“He was a friend I will miss. I miss you, brother.”
