When Steven Tyler announced his retirement, many thought we’d seen the last of the Aerosmith frontman on stage. But now, in 2025, he’s back… kind of. His highly anticipated return at Jam for Janie had fans buzzing, but before the big show, a rehearsal clip surfaced showing Tyler… well, not exactly in peak performance mode. Steven Tyler hilariously messed up in a new performance video.
Fans were pumped to see Tyler back in action—until this clip hit Instagram. In the video, the Aerosmith frontman can be seen behind the drum kit, trying to lock in a groove… and let’s just say, it wasn’t exactly Dream On levels of perfection. He fumbles the beat and stops.
In 2025, Tyler is making a shocking return, set to perform at his annual Jam for Janie Grammys viewing party—a star-studded event featuring rock legends like Billy Idol, Joan Jett, and Joe Perry.
The charity event is held in support of Janie’s Fund, a foundation Tyler created to help young women who have survived abuse and trauma. It’s a cause close to his heart, and it’s brought together some of the biggest names in music.
Steven Tyler isn’t the first rock legend to have a rough moment on stage. The man is 76 years old, and after decades of non-stop touring, his body has been through the wringer. From vocal cord surgeries to knee issues, Tyler’s had his fair share of battle scars.
And let’s not forget, Aerosmith’s Peace Out farewell tour in 2023 was cut short due to Tyler’s vocal health.
