The Rock on the Range Festival is ending after 12 years. Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden had a long history with the Columbus, Ohio based festival. Stone Temple Pilots’ first full length reunion performance took place on May 17, 2008 at Rock on the Range, while one of Scott Weiland’s final high profile festival performance was at Rock on the Range on May 16, 2015. Stone Temple Pilots returned to Rock on the Range after a decade on May 20, 2018 with new singer Jeff Gutt.
Soundgarden’s history with the festival is tragic, as the band played the festival on May 19, 2013, and they were scheduled to headline again on May 19, 2017, but Chris Cornell tragically died by suicide the prior day in Detroit.
Danny Wimmer Presents announced Friday the new Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival. The three-day event will debut at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, May 17, Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19, 2019 and will feature a premium food and beverage selection, art installations, plus expanded onsite experiences like never before to accompany a spectacular and diverse music lineup that will be announced in the coming months.
The announcement of the inaugural Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival replaces long-standing festival Rock On The Range.

They’re also the co-creators of Rock On The Range, America’s largest and most acclaimed rock festival, which celebrated its 12th year in 2018.
