System of a Down react to Charlie Kirk

System of a Down guitarist Daron Malakian posted in response to the assassination of conservative speaker Charlie Kirk, “Fuck political violence!!!! I’m not part of the far right or far left. I’m part of the far middle!!! This is our symbol 🖕🏼.”

“For all of you out there who keep quoting “Deer Dance”. We can’t afford to get Hit by a Moving Train either.”

Most of you who pick a side will be hiding like a bunch of bitches if shit really goes down. That’s the truth. Keep letting the media divide you. They will eventually kill you all. Just remember Uncle Daron warned you. Oh wait, it will be too late by then.”

System of a Down drummer John Dolmayan is a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, while singer Serj Tankian is liberal, showing that both sides of the political aisle can co-exist. Dolmayan posted about Kirk:

System of a Down 2026 tour dates are coming

System of a Down’s name, along with an image of the Earth, was spotted being projected onto multiple buildings in London, Italy, Poland, and Germany on Monday night (Sept. 8th). Fans were speculating that the Serj Tankain fronted band were hinting at a UK and European tour – which would be System of a Down’s first on the continent since 2017.

Since 2017, the band has shied away from doing full fledged tours, with them only doing a handful of shows in recent years.

In a May 2024 interview with Rainn Wilson, Tankian admitted he’s just not up to doing long tours anymore. “It’s not just physically exhausting, but it’s artistically redundant after a while, repeating the same thing,” he said. “That’s why we’re really enjoying doing these one-offs, they’re special events, special occasions. We can’t do them everywhere, we can’t do them all the time. But performing becomes fun again, in a way, and I had kind of lost that.”

He continued, saying at the time: “As far as touring somewhere in the near future, possibly, I would say. I mean, I’m open to looking at stuff, but not thrilled about doing long tours at all, anywhere. Just one-offs, or maybe a handful of one-offs with dates in between.”
