Ted Nugent is planning more concerts despite previously saying he was retiring. To mark the 50th anniversary of his song Stranglehold, he announced new shows starting on April 5 in Texas, with more concerts in Arkansas and Michigan, ending on August 30.

After his 2023 Adios Mofos tour, Nugent took a break but never stopped playing music. Some fans call his retirement fake because he still performs. In a past interview with Trunk Nation, he said he plays guitar every day and often jams with his band in Texas. He even joked that his guitars are “breeding” in his man cave.

Nugent clarified in a livestream that he never actually said he was retiring. “People ask if I’m going to retire, and I say no,” he stated. He explained that while he won’t go on long tours, he will still play “scattered gigs.” He also mentioned that he avoids hotels because he doesn’t want to leave his dogs, Coco and Sadie, behind.

His wife, Shemane, shared an update last July, confirming that while he retired from touring, he would continue playing charity events and special shows. Despite his farewell tour, Nugent surprised fans with SpeakEazy performances starting in May 2024.
