Earlier today, the United States and Israel launched a major coordinated military offensive against Iran, marking one of the most significant escalations in Middle East tensions in years. The joint strikes, described by Israeli officials as pre-emptive, saw air and missile attacks across multiple Iranian cities, including Tehran, with explosions reported early Saturday morning. The offensive targeted Iranian military infrastructure, leadership compounds and air defense positions, and was reportedly planned months in advance in coordination with Washington.
Iranian state media and the Red Crescent reported large numbers of civilian casualties across the country, with official figures citing more than 200 dead and hundreds injured in strikes that hit at least two dozen provinces.
