Former Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello was mocked on Twitter by some writers and comedians for his appearance at the Oscars on Sunday, where he presented the film ‘Vice’ about Dick Cheney. Morello wore a tuxedo and wasn’t wearing his trademark cap, looking quite dapper.

Comedian Mike Lawrence tweeted, “Dear Tom Morello, if you present at the Oscars you are officially a part of the Machine #Oscar2019.”

Writer Scott Tobias tweeted, “‘Who’s going to care most about Tom Morello being here?’ ‘I don’t know. John Mulaney?'”

TNT’s Drop The Mix writer Dashiell Driscoll tweeted, “Tom Morello in a tuxedo looks like Vin Diesel with a terminal illness #oscars.”

Former MTV VJ Matt Pinfield was kinder, tweeting, “Seeing our friend the amazingly talented and always well-spoken Tom Morello on the Oscars made my night. Now it will be complete it Bohemian Rhapsody sweeps.”

Morello tweeted himself on Sunday, “My new album, The Atlas Underground, is a rock, hip hop, EDM cagematch from the future, and the show we are working on for you guys is going to be just as wild.”

“There’s going to be loud guitars, huge bass drops, and stunning visuals that will bring this album to life before your eyes and ears. Also, WARNING: Dangerous truths will be revealed. Tickets are on sale NOW at http://tommorello.com.”
