Tool drummer Danny Carey recently performed a show in Los Angeles for 70 people. Despite the small audience, photography and video was still banned. You can see a photo below showing the ‘banned’ sign followed by a video from another recent intimate show, where you can see Carey play and seem to enjoy the small crowd. Maynard James Keenan recently announced that the new Tool album will be released on August 30th.

A fan posted on the Tool Reddit, “Perks of living in LA… Danny Carey playing jazz for 70 people.”

Additional Reddit comments included:

“So much for the ‘no photography’ sign in the background. just kidding, i’m insanely jealous.”

“Hahaha behind the symbols it says during the performance. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get such a close shot of his mini kit.”

“I love crash symbols!”

“WOW! That is the only time I have ever seen Danny using a double kick pedal with one bass drum while using his own equipment.”

“Yeah I was shocked too! It was really humbling to watch him carry it in and set up the kit himself.”

“Want an even smaller and more intimate show? Wait until he plays in Ventura again. Sitting room only, no standing around the stage. Less than 50 people.”

“Are there any recordings of it? Not want to steal from anybody, but I live like 8000 km from it and will likely never hear them play 😉”

“Ah that’s a bummer. He plays there all the time so I’m sure someone has a video but the place is really small and it would be very obvious to film it. I didn’t see anyone doing it last night.”

“A recording of him with a band in BP.”
