Tool drummer Danny Carey revealed that he went to see Maynard James Keenan in Scottsdale on his birthday, and he had ‘skipped town’ in a new web statement.

“I went to Scottsdale to wish our beloved singer happy birthday but I guess he found out I was coming and skipped town. Instead of showering him with fabulous presents from a far I ended up with a free meal and a great bottle of wine for myself. Bummer huh?!?! Happy birthday brother! I hope I can repay you next month.”

Fans weighed in on the Tool Reddit, with yhoo0910 posting, “The tour I believe is about 17 or so days away, have they started practicing together as a band? It seems like Maynard is off doing his own thing with all his various projects, mainly his wine.

Are they that tight that they don’t really need to rehearse even if its songs they have a done a million times? I think thats more indication that nothing new will be played at least during the States run. Maybe that one new single at best.”

fyreflight441 posted, “Unless the new album is titled ‘I hope I can repay you,’ this is not news.”

nate_dawg_ posted, “They’re going on tour next month and are just gonna be hanging out all the time.”
