U2 singer Bono just posted this photo on Instagram to back Zelensky in his controversial battle with Trump.

U2’s frontman Bono and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have formed a unique relationship centered around music, activism, and resistance. Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Bono has been vocal in his support for the Ukrainian people, using his global platform to amplify their struggle.

One of the most significant moments in their connection came in May 2022, when Bono and U2 guitarist The Edge performed a surprise acoustic concert in a Kyiv subway station that had been converted into a bomb shelter. The event, arranged with Zelensky’s approval, was meant to uplift Ukrainians and send a message of solidarity. During the performance, Bono praised Ukraine’s fight for freedom, drawing parallels between their struggle and Ireland’s history of resistance.

Zelensky, who has frequently leveraged cultural figures to rally international support, later invited Bono to contribute to Ukraine’s cause in various ways. In December 2022, U2 dedicated their song Walk On to Ukraine, reinforcing their continued support. Bono has also used his influence to encourage Western governments to aid Ukraine.

Their relationship highlights how art and politics can intersect in times of crisis, with Bono’s activism complementing Zelensky’s efforts to unite global voices against oppression.
