Former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony were asked about possible involvement with the album that Van Halen drummer Alex Van Halen has been working on with Toto guitarist Steve Lukather.
Alex Van Halen recently shared details about his upcoming album project. Alex explained that the material he and Steve Lukather are considering comes from unfinished recordings meant for the next Van Halen album. The drums, guitar, and bass were already recorded, but Eddie’s passing stopped the project before it could be completed. What’s missing, he said, is a vocalist.
Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony talks about Alex Van Halen
In a new interview with Rock Of Nations With Dave Kinchen And Shane McEachern, Sammy Hagar said neither he nor Michael Anthony has been asked to participate in the upcoming LP tied to Alex Van Halen.
Hagar explained that during his early days with Van Halen, starting with his first session at fifty one fifty, the band recorded massive amounts of jam material, much of which later became songs like “Summer Nights,” “Good Enough,” and parts of “Get Up” from the fifty one fifty album.
Because of that, Hagar believes there’s plenty of unreleased material featuring himself, Michael Anthony, Eddie Van Halen, and Alex that could be used if Alex wanted to include them.
