Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil is currently opening for former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar and the Circle. The performances so far have gotten rave reviews from fans, with Neil even joining Hagar for a performance of Montrose’s “Rock Candy.” Neil and Hagar have shared a new photo of themselves sharing drinks, a crazy photo especially after the release of ‘The Dirt’ showing the connection between the two bands.
Vince Neil wrote, “Me and my buddy Sammy ready to rock Chicago tonight!!!”

Neil and Hagar toured together in 1993 when Hagar was fronting Van Halen. The Washington Post wrote in a review at the time:
Sunday night’s Van Halen-Vince Neil double bill at Merriweather Post Pavilion was, in many ways, an ironic pairing: One was a band that arguably never recovered from the loss of its original front man, the other a newly single lead singer who is inarguably at loose ends without his original band.
Van Halen’s Sammy Hagar is no David Lee Roth, but he has his virtues, perhaps foremost among them the willingness to perform with women’s underwear on his head. The band wisely kept to a minimum the David Lee-era songs in its energized two-hour-plus set; the few it did play — like the lackluster “Jump” — fell flat. In fact, Hagar’s pre-Van Halen solo hit “I Can’t Drive 55” garnered a bigger response than much of the band’s own material.
The Great Southern Brainfart wrote in an unkind review of a 1993 show:
In 1993, Van Halen was touring behind their craptastic “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge” (huh huh, FUCK, get it?) album but on this leg they were supporting their even more lame “Right Here, Right Now” live album. They took out Vince Neil as their opening act who was touring for his first solo album after having been kicked out of Motley Crue. Vince was, well, Vince. Not even Steve Stevens on guitar could save this sinking ship. They opened with “The Look In Her Eyes” and the look in MY eyes was my eyes rolling around. This was going to be painful. After an hour of really crappy songs and an even crappier Motley Medley, they were finally off the stage.
