Soundgarden were supposed to headline Rock on the Range tonight, and the festival still found a way to have Chris Cornell’s presence felt. Images and video of Cornell played on screen as “Black Hole Sun” played along with other songs like Temple of the Dog’s “Say Hello 2 Heaven” and Jeff Buckley’s “Hallelujah.” Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor also came out to perform Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike” and Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” in honor of Cornell.
Fans were moved by the tribute, with AlternativeNation.net reporter Lauryn Schaffner, who is covering the festival, saying that she herself was moved to tears. Watch the tributes below.
If you feel your life doesn't matter, please know you matter and your life matters. There is hope. Always hope. Depression is real. Suicide ideology is real. But love is real friends. It has come to save the world. Xoxo #rip #chriscornell #rockontherange #rotr #rock #festival #jesussaves #love #freedom #chainbreaker
