Former Nirvana manger Danny Goldberg revealed why Courtney Love told him she dumped Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan in a new Yahoo interview. Love was with Kurt Cobain that same night at a Nirvana concert after breaking up with Corgan.
“This is one of those things where there were different stories told at different times. But when I did- this did come up when I spoke to her for the book and she said that the truth was that she did go there to see Billy Corgan.
She did have a romance with Billy Corgan, on and off in the months prior to that, you know, the singer from the Smashing Pumpkins and he had he then when she got there was with some other woman.
So she knew Nirvana was in town and as she said she and Kurt had been kind of flirting over a distance with each other for the last year or two and I remember being in the dressing room after she said hi to me and then like five minutes later she [was with him].”
He then described Love sitting on Cobain’s lap, and both of them seeming to be enjoying themselves and each other’s company.
