When Eddie Van Halen passed it left a huge hole that has not yet been filled in the music industry. Not just that either, but many who loved Eddie Van Halen are still feeling the absolute loss of not just a rock icon, but a husband, father, and friend as well. Such a big part of his loved one’s lives have changed that they don’t see life working out the same without him here, sadly.

In a recent sit down interview with the Today show, ex-wife of Eddie Van Halen, Valerie Bertinelli spoke candidly on her time with Eddie Van Halen and how, after her recent divorce, she wishes to finish out her life alone.

Tom Vitale was the man whom Bertinelli recently called it quits with. From this experience and with the loss of Eddie still weighing heavily on her via an emotional appearance on the Today show, Bertinelli states that she doesn’t ever feel compelled to look for love again.

Valerie stated: “I am gonna be more than happy to be happily divorced and spend the rest of my life alone. I’ll be happy that way with my six cats and my dog and my son, and hopefully one day grandchildren.”

The turmoil that Valerie has endured in a rather short period of time has been awful on her mentally.

When asked if she would be looking for love in the future, she replied: “Oh God, no, because of the challenges that I’m going through right now, because divorce sucks. I can’t imagine ever trusting anyone again to let into my life. So I have some trust issues that I’m sure I’m going to have to get past.”

With so many years spent previously with Eddie Van Halen, it was clear to see that she is still rather shaken up still about his death.

She spoke about Eddie and their “bumpy moments”: “No matter what you go through, you can always find your way back to love and forgiveness and we were able to do that, gratefully. I wish he hadn’t died after that. It would have been nice to spend some more time with him! But yeah, I was grateful that we had that.”
