Howard Stern recently criticized the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which has snubbed Peter Frampton, Chris Cornell’s band Soundgarden, and many more.

MarksFriggin.com wrote in a recap: Howard said he owns the stage. He asked how long he’s been playing. Peter said he’s been playing for 60 years. Robin asked how old he is. Peter said he’s 43. Howard said Peter won a Grammy for his instrumental version of Black Hole Sun. He said that’s his connection to Chris Cornell. He asked if a Grammy meant anything to him. Peter said it did when he got one. Howard asked if it really means anything. Peter said people thought he was going to get one for Comes Alive. He said that when you’re too big you don’t get one. Howard said it was crazy how big that album was. Peter said it was. He said there were people who said it should be them instead of him but it was him.

Howard said he’s kind of turned off that he’s not in the Hall of Fame. He asked if he cares. Peter said he must have upset someone along the way. He said it’s not for him to say. Howard said come on. He said there are a lot of people who haven’t sold the number of records he has. Peter said he doesn’t expect anything.

Howard said The Cure is in there. He said they’re good but he’d think Peter would be before them. He said Def Leppard, Janet Jackson, Stevie Nicks, Roxy Music and Brian Ferry are in there. Howard said he can say fuck them if he wants to. Peter said he wouldn’t say that. He said he just did an instrumental of Avalon. Howard asked what Chris thought of this cover. Peter said he went on tour with Chris and played a verse instrumentally and then Chris sang. He said it was amazing.

Howard said he has no idea what he’s talking about in this song but it gets him. He asked what it means. Peter said he doesn’t know. He said it’s just one of those things he heard in the car and turned it up. He said this was a song that he heard and thought was one of the greatest songs ever. Howard said he loves this guy. He said he’s glad he played at the [Chris Cornell] tribute.

Howard said Peter belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He said it would be nice to see him up there getting honored. Peter said he wouldn’t say no. He said he gets embarrassed by this stuff. He said he doesn’t expect anything in his career. He said if something nice happens he’s just happy about it.
