Billy Corgan Makes Bold Weezer Remark After Backlash

Weezer recently released the black album, and it has been criticized by some fans and music writers for going too far pop.

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has defended Weezer in a recent Instagram Q&A, and gone as far to say in another Q&A that he would like to see Smashing Pumpkins tour with Weezer.

Have you listened to Weezer’s new album? How do you feel about the rock to pop change?

“I am a fan of Weezer and RC’s. They can do no wrong in my eyes.”

Ever plan on touring with Weezer?

“That would be a great tour.”

Weezer’s Blue Album or Pinkerton?

“Any album by Weezer is great. RC is a great songwriter.”

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo recently covered The Smashing Pumpkins classic “Today” in March 2018 a solo performance at The Hi Hat in Los Angeles. Watch below.

Cuomo performed a solo set in Chicago in April 2018, and he covered Smashing Pumpkins’ “1979” and “Today” along with Green Day’s “Basket Case” and “When I Come Around.” He praised Billie Joe Armstrong and Billy Corgan: “Both the Billies are so awesome.”

Weezer are currently touring behind the black album, with additional dates with the Pixies. The Smashing Pumpkins are set to tour North America this summer with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
