Robert Plant was brutally mocked by a Led Zeppelin icon in a surprising new clip: himself. Plant called himself a ‘wedding singer’ compared to bandmates Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham. Alternative Nation transcribed Plant’s comments from a ‘Digging Deep’ podcast preview clip where he discusses “Achilles Last Stand.” Plant has long been the Led Zeppelin reunion holdout.

“So with Achilles Last Stand, the music, I was so fortunate to be around so many amazingly gifted players. If you think about Led Zeppelin as being a trio, really, with a kind of wedding singer stuck up the front. I always saw the reality of what was going on, in that my enthusiasm was a good contribution, but in truth, those guys were amazing.”

Jimmy Page looked back at a classic Page & Plant show in a recent Instagram post, “On this day in 1998, Page & Plant played The Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit and two years later I played with The Black Crowes at the same venue on the same day.”

He also wrote, “On this day in 1995, I played @glastofest with Robert Plant and our coat of many musical colours. ⁣Broadcasted on TV and Radio, it was a little windy that day and the elements made sport with the wind bombarding the sound as it released from the PA speakers and drifted all over the place. But it was exhilarating to play Glastonbury and we played really well to a really enthusiastic audience who were willing us on.⁣”
