Former Metallica guitarist and current Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine was recently diagnosed with tongue cancer, and the biggest names in rock have reached out to him on social media, except for his former Metallica bandmates Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield. Former Metallica bassist Ron McGovney did reached out though in a tweet, “Old band mates with @Metallica. Hopefully , I can give @DaveMustaine a hug like this very soon. We are all standing strong with you Dave!”

A fan then asked, “Hey @RonMcGovney Megadeth fans want too no if Metallica put out statements regarding Dave Mustaine cancers cause we haven’t seen it we are wondering why ps billy.”

McGovney responded, “I have no idea. They should if they haven’t already.”

Other fans tweeted:

“Everyone is wishing Dave Mustaine a good recovery except for Metallica…”

“@Metallica Man you assholes couldn’t even mention Dave Mustaine and what he’s going through right now? Guess your all to busy making another shitty album.”

“.@Metallica how is it that you’re failing at common kindness? Your silence, especially Lars and James, on Dave Mustaine’s cancer is a very bad look.”

In all fairness to Metallica, it is entirely possible that members of the band have privately reached out to Mustaine, not everything is broadcast on social media, but thus far, the band have remained quite publicly.
