CagedTiger on the Below Empty forums has done some internet sleuthing and uncovered the lyrics for Stone Temple Pilots’ new songs “Never Enough” and “Thought She’d Be Mine.” The tracks will appear on the band’s second self-titled album, set for release on March 16th.

CagedTiger wrote, “Okay so I managed to zoom in on the Amazon picture and decipher the lyrics for a few of the new songs… I’ve created a new thread so I could label it with a spoiler tag for those who don’t wish to view the lyrics to songs we haven’t heard yet. Also I thought for those who do we could discuss the lyrics here. I know straight away a few people are going to speculate this one is about Scott and his exit from STP, especially with the use of the word ‘anarchy’ and some of the other lyrics…”

Jeff Gutt is the singer, so it seems unlikely he’d write a lot about Scott Weiland and would likely draw more from his personal experiences, so let us know in the comments what you think about the lyrics!

Never Enough

You’re all bark, but no bite
It’s alright, you’re in the middle
It’s ok, you’re on fire
You’ll expire, in just a little while

What a poor little baby
Ah, such a poor little baby

No it’s never enough
You’re hiding away where no one can touch

Now you tell me that you can do better
But we both know you can’t ‘cuz you’ll never
Put away your anarchy
‘Cuz now we both know that you’re
No good for me

In the dark, without light
It’s alright, you’re in the middle
It’s ok, you’ll conspire
With desire, in just a little while

What a poor little baby
Ah, such a poor little baby

No it’s never enough
You’re hiding away where no one can touch

Now you tell me that you can do better
But we both know you can’t ‘cuz you’ll never
Put away your anarchy
‘Cuz now we both know that you’re
No good for me

Pre Chorus/Chorus

Thought She’d Be Mine

I swim in oceans of blue sky
Autumn Hazy
They tell me it’s only you
Anticipating the one thing that could save me
But somethings not right with the moon
Every time I get by I get closer to thinkin’
And we don’t need that again
I’ve been sinking in blue eyed Autumn baby
Still thinking back to when

I thought she’d be mine
Thought she’d be mine…
Mine in the morning

I walk the streets out of time
So tired and lonely
Never to be the same
It could’ve been something beautiful if only
I opened my eyes too late
Every time that I try words get lost in the wind
And we don’t need that again
I’ve been thinking of blue eyed Autumn baby
I used to remember when

I thought she’d be mine
Thought she’d be mine…
Mine in the morning

Chorus x 2

Pure speculation. You are just trying to tie Scott to those lyrics to make it easier to twist some drama into the situation. Click bait city.

Who cares, band is in the past now. Not very talented without Scott. Sounds like basic radio garbage.

I will agree that STP is dead without Scott but to say they are not talented is pure retardation on your part. That band made the best music ever in my opinion. I just think Gutt sucks. He can sing but he has no charisma or stage presence. With Scott you always wondered what crazy shit he would do. There was always a level of danger in their music that just doesn’t exist anymore. That goes with most bands nowadays. The 80’s and 90’s had some crazy bands but that shit died somewhere in the 2000’s.

Meadow has really grown on me. I went from thinking, these guys should really just retire the name and move on, to thinking: OK, I want to hear the rest of the album. Meadow is picking up steam on rock radio (or what’s left of it) and rightfully so.

I knew Scott Weiland for 22 years. Stone Temple Pilots is dead. Like Journey without Steve Perry, even Chester Bennington couldn’t save them. What STP should’ve done is what they did in 2006 while Scott was with Velvet Revolver & recorded a great CD under the name Army of Anyone with Richard Patrick of Filter. To try & resurrect the band with a 3rd singer & substandard music is what Journey is still doing & you know why people are still stupid enough to pay to see them? They only come to hear the songs Perry sang & he’s still alive. You think they care about any of their last 18 years of music without Perry? Hell no. STP’s new music is not enough to save them. The only reason people are going to pay to see them is to hear the songs they made with Scott Weiland, who is conveniently dead & STP is desperate enough obviously to capitalize on it. I saw how they treated Scott backstage at many shows. They claimed to love him but treated him like shit because he was the star. Velvet Revolver was a totally different story & you don’t see them out there with a replacement for Scott. They treated him better too. They were stars just like Scott, & while I don’t dispute that the band is talented, STP is Scott Weiland. I will not pay to see them nor buy anything from them, as with Journey. Steve is alive & doesn’t seem to need the money. Sadly Scott is dead & he doesn’t need the money either. When was the last time you heard an STP song with Chester? This buzz over Meadow will fade. The CD will fade. And in the end, STP has nothing but Scott Weiland’s memory to make money on. I have 2 words for STP: Good luck. How about they play a show with not 1 song from Weiland’s time & see if you post a story on how that turned out. Remember on Robert Plant’s first tour & he wasn’t playing anything from Zeppelin? He did just fine. If STP says they’ll do a tour with not a single Weiland song (we know they won’t though) I’ll pay to see it. Hell I’d pay $1000 to see Army of Anyone before I’d pay 1 cent on STP that’s for damn sure.

Why should STP fold because no-one was able to reach Scott Weiland enough to help him? So – STP weren’t able to continue with him because of his issues and now they’re not allowed to continue because he’s dead?? I guess they are to keep being held hostage by him, even after his death. They had fired him! That’s why he was touring so hard with those loser Wildabouts. Robert, Dean and Eric have the legal right to the name and they can use it as they see fit. People will listen or they won’t. If you don’t like it, just don’t listen. And those “Scott Weiland” songs were written by FOUR people. They are STP songs, not Scott Weiland songs.

I hate to be that guy but I could write better lyrics in my sleep.
