Rage Against The Machine reportedly asked two big names to replace Zack de la Rocha when he quit in 2000 and the band ultimately split up. RATM would later try this ‘two rapper’ replacement approach in 2016 with a new name, Prophets of Rage, with Chuck D and B-Real.

Quinkuan posted on Reddit, “RATM minus Zack plus Mos Def/Yasiin Bey?

I had not heard this before today, but on Talib Kweli’s latest People’s Party podcast: partner-in-rhyme Yasiin Bey/Mos Def reveals that after Zack’s departure in 2000, he was invited to take Zack’s place in RATM.

Yasiin said that he was friends with Zack so he didn’t want to do it.

pslind69 responded, “This was something in the past right? Like, Zack is a part of RATM right now.”

SkyWest1218 said, “Probably referring to right after Zack left in 2000.”

Rage Against The Machine later reunited from 2007 to 2011, and in 2019 they reunited again, announcing a 2020 tour that was delayed to 2021, and now to 2022.
