Transgender music pioneer and cult solo acoustic artist Shawna Virago has released the latest single “Last Night’s Sugar” from her new studio album ‘Heaven Sent Delinquent.’ The video keeps it simple, depicting Shawna playing acoustic guitar standing up and sitting near a piano, mixed with a narrative about a lover. The track is very stripped down, lyrically it’s a nostalgic track that also has a feeling of wanting to escape. Lyrically the track also recalls a striptease in Mobile, and the romance that ensued.

Virago’s live performances are celebrated for their compelling mix of original songs, storytelling and standup. ‘Heaven Sent Delinquent’ has ten acoustic storytelling songs that articulate escape – real or imagined – by a cast of outsiders, queer rebels and loners. Each song spins an odyssey by these escape artists: from stifling, oppressive, dusty towns; from the crushing weight of a questionable past; to the potential violence transpeople face every day.
