Smashing Pumpkins members Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin have revealed that they are working on a new song called “Route 666.” It’s currently unknown if James Iha and D’arcy Wretzky are part of these studio sessions, or if they might join at a later point.

“@chamberdrums and I are currently working on a song called ‘Route 666’. Using my early 70’s Iommi-esque Laney amp too. #savage.”

“Whilst working on a song yesterday, I asked @howardwilling_thebear how long the song was? He said, ‘about 4 1/2 minutes.’ I turned to @chamberdrums. ‘How did we ever do so many 7 min songs?’ (You know, back in the day).”

Corgan and Chamberlin’s last album together in The Smashing Pumpkins was 2007’s Zeitgeist. They released the American Gothic EP and “G.L.O.W.” single in 2008.

Corgan also recently wrote about his NWA wrestling project.

“Would you trust this man? I do. For about a year, @lagana (David Lagana) and I have gone about the business of trying to rebuild a brand which was considered by many to be on the dustheap of history. But if you, like so many, watched the @nwa in it’s prime, you’d know there was a magic there that has much to do with it’s formulation as a business in post-war America, and the saturating rise of television media. This year, 2018, will mark the @nwa’s 70th year of continuous operation. That alone was enough for me to take a chance on purchasing the @nwa, for, as some say, what’s in a name? With the National Wrestling Alliance, the moniker says it all.”
