Chris Cornell Jr. posted the following message on Instagram on his father’s birthday on Friday. He wrote it in a comment on a post by his mother Vicky.

“Mommy you were and still are daddy’s love, life and whole world.”

Chris Jr. is also known by the nickname C-Ball, and he joined his father onstage on occasion years back during Songbook performances. He’s been called ‘Black Hole Son’ by fans. Cornell is 12 years old, having been born in December 2005. Late Linkin Park and Stone Temple Pilots singer Chester Bennington was Cornell’s godfather.

Chris Jr.’s sister Lily, who recently turned 18 and graduated high school, posted her own birthday tribute, an old Soundgarden ‘Lame List’ interview. She wrote on Instagram, “Favorite video of all time.”

A video was released last Christmas showing Chris Cornell and his son discussing their holiday traditions in 2014.

“What are our holiday traditions? Every year around this time, we like to go to our house in Rome and celebrate our holidays there, it’s a very beautiful place to be in Christmas,” Cornell told his son, who responded: “I like when you take us out on the bicycle.”
