Roy Orbison Jr. was recently interviewed by the Appetite for Distortion podcast to discuss his father’s new hologram tour and shared many stories of what it was liking growing up with an icon as a father.

As a 15-year-old he recalled a soon-to-be-famous band using the same studio as Roy Orbison. “In 1986, my dad was recording an album called Mystery Girl. And we recorded at different studios, but one of the studios was Rumbo records, and that’s in the valley in LA. And we were booked Monday to Friday…there was another band coming in on the weekends…and now this is 1986, so you see where this is going.”

“…all the sinks, the water would shoot out…the band they’re pulling out the filter…to make some sort of smoking pipe…the band was Guns N Roses.” Basically Guns N’ Roses truly had an “Appetite for Destruction” and made bongs out of sinks.

Roy continued, “I meet everybody, I got a couple of enemies. You know, somehow me and Red Hot Chili Peppers do not get along. I seriously nearly been in a fight with Flea three times.”

Untold stories of the Traveling Wilburys, the Rolling Stones, and many others that Roy Orbison Jr. can be found in 85 of Appetite for Distortion. K.K. Downing (Judas Priest) is also interviewed.
