The New York Times have up a new article on Tool and A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan, and the piece claims that Keenan is the former singer of Tool, having left the band.

A fan on Twitter named Godhenry sent Keenan the article, “@mjkeenan Stoked that @nytimes gave @merkinvineyards a shout-out in this nicely written article about wine and Arizona, but hope @mjkeenan is not leaving @Tool ‘Maynard Keenan, a wine entrepreneur and former lead singer of the alt-metal band, Tool)’ 🙄”

Keenan responded, “Not much fact-checking these days.”

Tool are set to release a new album on August 30, 2019, their first new record since 2006’s 10,000 Days. The band recently debuted “Descending” and “Invincible” live. The band are currently on a North American tour, and they will follow it up with a summer European tour. The band’s fall touring plans behind their new album are currently unknown, but more North American dates would make sense after a short break, as Keenan likes to spend the late summer winemaking. Keenan is also set to release a new Puscifer album next year.

Tool are rumored to finally put their music on streaming services ahead of the release of their new album, with profiles already being visible on Spotify and Apple Music.
