Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave drummer Brad Wilk has responded to his estranged wife Selen Vigil-Wilk’s request for a huge support payment, and he has also shot down rumors that his relationship with Juliette Lewis played a role in the end of his marriage. The couple separated in 2013 after 8 years of marriage and have two children.

According to court documents reported on by Blabbermouth and obtained by The Blast, Wilk said there was never a reconciliation and that he and Selene had been separated “for years” when he began dating Lewis, and they went public in 2016.

Wilk also resisted his estranged wife’s demand for $48,000 a month in support, saying that he has already paid her over $4 million since they split. Wilk listed his average monthly income as $132,000 and noted he has $1,092,600 in bank accounts, $1.2 million in stocks/bonds and $3.4 million in other property. He said he isn’t making as much money as in Rage Against The Machine’s hey day, and his main income source is royalties. Wilk currently plays with Prophets of Rage.

Wilk reportedly said, “I have no idea how much longer I will have a viable music career at this stage of my life. I have continued to work with various bands since the time of our separation in an attempt to keep up with the cost of maintaining two households and to meet the financial needs of our children, but my income is nowhere near what I earned with [Rage Against The Machine].”
