Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters performed at Rock in Rio on Saturday, and Grohl revealed that he broke down in tears backstage when he heard Weezer cover a song by Nirvana, and his late friend and bandmate Kurt Cobain. A Dave Grohl ‘threat’ at a concert was recently revealed.

“I was backstage and I heard Weezer play the ‘Lithium’ song and I’ve got to be honest, I cried a little bit. I miss playing that song. So this song goes out to Weezer.”

Grohl also announced that Foo Fighters are set to begin recording their new album in October, with hopes of a 2020 release to follow up 2017’s Concrete and Gold. 2020 could be a big year for new rock releases, with Green Day, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, and Red Hot Chili Peppers expected to release new albums.

Dave Grohl rejecting a surprising Guns N’ Roses member was revealed a couple of weeks ago. Grohl announced, “I don’t know when we’ll be back down here again, but we will. We go home next week and we start making a new Foo Fighters record. It’s good, it’s good.”

Foo Fighters fans on Reddit were thrilled by the news, with hopes that the Cal Jam festival will return in 2020 after a year off in 2019 to celebrate the release of the album.

waitinonadeer posted, “Fingers crossed for another Cal Jam record release party!” zuckuss00 responded, “I’m sure that’s the plan… unfortunately. I only say that because this window of time is probably the last we will get for a Them Crooked Vultures follow up album to happen with Josh off tour and JPJ not doing much other than getting older.”

Gerkeey chimed in, “I was hoping Dave would work on a new Them Crooked Vultures album first, it’s been 10 years.” Chiner concluded, “But that would delay more Foo. I remember the drought between Echos and Wasting Light…Better just to clone the man so he can do both at once.” Dave Grohl being disrespected by Josh Homme was recently revealed.
