Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder has been interviewed by late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell’s daughter Lily Cornell Silver for a new episode of her Mind Wide Open podcast on Instagram. This is the first time Vedder has spoken on camera with a member of Chris Cornell’s family since the iconic singer’s death by suicide in May 2017.

Lily has been raising awareness for mental health issues on her podcast, which is now six episodes in and has included guests Duff McKagan from Guns N’ Roses, Monique Minahan, Sir Carter, Dr. Marc Brackett, and Laura Lipsky.

Lily wrote about interviewing Vedder, “I am honored to be joined by a guiding light in my life, Eddie Vedder of @pearljam. We discuss societal and political impacts on mental health, Eddie’s own experiences, and the importance of activism and empathy.

Eddie Vedder released a new album with Pearl Jam this year, Gigaton, and the band were forced to postpone their 2020 tour due to the worldwide pandemic. In addition to hosting her podcast, Lily Cornell Silver is a singer and music manager, following in the footsteps of her mother Susan Silver, the legendary powerhouse Seattle manager of Alice In Chains. Eddie Vedder was photographed with Chris Cornell’s ex-wife and daughter backstage at a show last year.
