During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk,” Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo (who served as Ozzy’s bassist from 1996 to 2003) reflected on attending Ozzy Osbourne’s funeral, sharing a few details about the service.

The relatively small, private, funeral was held at Ozzy’s home in Buckinghamshire, England – where he was laid to rest near a pond in the middle of his 250-acre property.

Describing the day as “very beautiful” with speeches that varied from “very sad” to “pretty funny,” Trujillo explained that it felt as if Ozzy’s spirit was present throughout the service.

“It had been raining at the beginning of the service, about an hour — I don’t know — longer than an hour before. And then as it sort of progressed through the service, the weather would change and different things would happen,” he said, before sharing a few touching moments involving Ozzy’s daughter Kelly Osbourne and his Black Sabbath bandmate Geezer Butler.

“When Kelly was singing, her lyrics flew — the wind blew her lyrics away. It was almost like Ozzy was having fun with her,” Trujillo explained. “And then when Geezer spoke, actually spoke, the sun came out. I’m not kidding. The sun actually came out, and then it was beautiful from that moment on — a very magical moment.”

Osbourne’s death certificate – which notes his occupation as “Songwriter, Performer and Rock Legend” – officially lists his cause of death as a heart attack. The certificate also mentions that in addition to Parkinson’s disease, the late metal pioneer also suffered from coronary artery disease.
