Yesterday would have been Scott Weiland’s 49th birthday. Alternative Nation marked the occasion with an exclusive article about the legendary Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman’s experience at the 2005 Grammys, courtesy of his close friend Rocco Guarino. Velvet Revolver guitarist Dave Kushner and Stone Temple Pilots also took to social media to mark the late singer’s birthday. STP’s post was the first photo of Weiland to appear on the band’s Twitter or Facebook since his 2013 firing from the band.

STP wrote, “Happy birthday Scott. We miss you.”

Velvet Revolver guitarist Dave Kushner wrote, “Happy Birthday up there @scottweiland Miss you and all the creative energy you brought to this planet. Wish we could have done more…wish I could have done more. #ripscottweiland #velvetrevolver #stonetemplepilots #STP @slash @officialduffmckagan @mattsorum @theejoeyc @nickmaybes #robertdeleo #deandeleo #TalentedMotherFucker.”

Original Mighty Joe Young (STP’s early incarnation, also known as Swing) guitarist Corey Hickok offered a birthday message to Alternative Nation, “Happy Birthday Brother Scott! There isn’t a day that goes by I don’t think of you. You’re truly missed by thousands, and I know you’re in a much better place now.”

Hickok wrote an in-depth tribute to Weiland earlier this year on Alternative Nation.
