Billy Corgan discussed a possible Smashing Pumpkins reunion on Happy Radio 92.5 KKHA in Texas yesterday. Corgan appeared on the station as part of his 30 day journey across the United States. Alternative Nation transcribed his comments.
“Well see, I have a funny story for you, because you were listening to Aerosmith. I was once in an elevator with Steven Tyler at the Super Bowl, it was actually at the last Super Bowl Tom Brady was in that he lost, to the Giants. I said hello to Steven, I had never met him before, and he said, ‘Is your band going to reform?’ I said nah. This is years ago of course, and I said, “No, I don’t think so.’ He said, ‘Oh, you will, just give it time.’ So maybe Steven Tyler knows more than I do.
I don’t know, I don’t know if the band is going to reform. We’re getting along, and talking again. The whole band hasn’t been on stage I think in 17 or 18 years, so if we do get on stage together it’ll be a modern day miracle, but as the Eagles once did their Hell Freezes Over tour, so I don’t know what our version would be.
Look, The good thing is people still want to hear the music, that’s the best part, so I’ve got no problem with that. I’ve gone to see a lot of my heroes played when they’ve reformed, so I don’t have a problem with it. Yeah, it’s all good.”
