AC/DC are seemingly gearing up to announce a new 2025 tour for North America. Nothing has been officially announced by the band but fans are speculating that a tour announcement is on the way after an update appeared online.
Famed journalist Mitch Lafon has also hinted that the opening act for the upcoming AC/DC North American tour is a female-fronted band and based on his comments on social media, it is most likely The Pretty Reckless. Moreover, The Pretty Reckless frontwoman Taylor Momsen has also been congratulated for the opportunity by her close ones.
Earlier this year The Pretty Reckless supported AC/DC for their Europe tour. AC/DC usually calls the same band for both Europe and North America. So it seems that Taylor Momsen and co. is likely to be opening for their North America tour as well.
On November 11th, it was reported that a Facebook event was listed for AC/DC and taking place at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 11th, 2025. It was soon removed from Facebook.
Before it was taken down, it was reported that the tickets would be going on sale on Friday, November 15th. It indicated that if a US tour is to be announced, the official confirmation should be coming imminently.
If a North America tour does come to fruition, it’ll come on the heels of the rock veterans wrapping up the 24th and final show of their ‘Power Up’ UK and Europe tour. The last date of their extensive run took place at Croke Park in Dublin on August 17th.
The tour marked their first run of shows with the new line-up, comprising singer Brian Johnson, guitarists Angus and Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug, and new bassist Chris Chaney. It seems that Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd will reportedly yet again sit out AC/DC’s North America tour.
The last time the band performed in the US was at last year’s installment of Power Trip festival, which took place in Indio, California. While no official dates have been confirmed, the band is also rumored to be headliners for Glastonbury 2025.
Earlier this year, Taylor Momsen recalled the opportunity to tour with the legendary band came as the group was just beginning to work on their next album.
“We were in the studio…when I got a text from my agent that simply read ‘AC/DC with the Pretty Reckless, all dates, no openers.’ My mind was blown,” she tells GRAMMY.com. “I love recording, probably more than anything in life, but when AC/DC calls…you answer, and you say YES. It’s an honor and a privilege to be asked to share their stage.”
Momsen makes sure to catch AC/DC’s set every night, confirming that — even five decades into their career — they are “nothing short of a force of nature” on stage. And though the tour has resulted in rabies shots for Momsen (more on that later), the tour has been an experience she and her band will cherish forever.
“We’re having the time of our lives with them,” Momsen adds. “I never want this summer to end.”
