Former AC/DC drummer Simon Wright discussed leaving AC/DC after his 1983-1989 run in a new interview. Brian Johnson recently released the first video of himself singing in 2019. Wright was interviewed by WRIF, and he clarified that he wasn’t fired. Ultimate-Guitar transcribed his comments.

“Well, it’s not as straightforward as that, it really wasn’t. I mean, you have to do it for your own sanity. I haven’t got one single bad thought about AC/DC; their music is incredible, it’s timeless. It was a strange move, it was a tough move, but it kind of had to be done. I needed to really move. It wasn’t fair on them, it wasn’t fair for the fans and stuff like that.

“I managed to move on with something that was pretty happening. It’s just one of those things that in time, that’s what happened, we’ve moved on since then. I have no insights about what’s going on, I spoke to Angus in 2009 somewhere, and that was pretty brief, just saying hello and stuff, but we don’t keep in touch.”

Wright told Talking Metal earlier this year, “Basically, it sounds a little crazy, but I really lost my enthusiasm for things.

You can’t really be like that in a band like that – you’ve gotta give 110% – and my enthusiasm had become a bit complacent, and it wasn’t fair on them, and it definitely wasn’t fair on the fans and people coming to the shows. So I started thinking, ‘I’ve gotta move on here.’ And luckily, through a friend of a friend of a friend, or whatever, I managed to meet up with Ronnie. We did some rehearsals. It was mainly for the new album that he had going on, called [1990’s] ‘Lock Up the Wolves.’

Cause it was straight into recording, basically, before we did any shows. And we did that. And it kind of worked out. I’d met Ronnie a couple of times in the past before that, and I thought he was such a clever, funny, intelligent guy. And I’d loved his singing, obviously, with Sabbath and Rainbow and his own stuff and everything. And it just kind of worked out. Yeah, it was a great time.”

AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson recently interviewed Dolly Parton for a television special. Johnson surprised Dolly by walking in on her dressing room to kick off the episode. Alternative Nation transcribed their comments. We also recently reported on Brian Johnson teasing a bizarre new song in a stunning video.

Brian Johnson said, “Hello Dolly me me darling it’s Brian.”

Dolly Parton jubilantly responded, “Brian, how are you! My goodness. Did you want one of my dresses?”

Brian responded, “I was just saying me darling, this is not like an AC/DC dressing room, because ours is just black t-shirts and jeans.”

Dolly shot back, “This is a highway to heaven, that’s a highway to hell.”
