Aerosmith has announced that the band is officially retiring from touring. They announced in a statement last week that they are canceling the rest of what would’ve been their farewell tour as Steven Tyler struggles to recover from a vocal injury he suffered last year.
Aerosmith first started the Peace Out farewell tour in May last year. However, they played just three shows before pushing dates back as Tyler injured his Larynx. The band announced the new show dates back in April. They had originally planned to continue the tour in September.
Aerosmith refunding money?
One fan revealed that he received an email stating that SeatGeek would reach out with refund options. He noted that there are several reviews and comments of many people getting scammed by SeatGeek. The fan is currently concerned as he has not heard from them.
The group had been active on the live front leading up to the goodbye tour, with a residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas, followed by a hometown show at Boston’s Fenway Park last year to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
The band’s statement does not mention whether there is still hope for Tyler to recover from his problems to a point that would allow for future recordings. Aerosmith has already seemed to be long retired from making songs. Their last album, “Music From Another Dimension!,” came out in 2012. Tyler subsequently released a solo album in 2016.
Aerosmith’s tour cancelation comes one month after rock band Heart had to postpone their highly anticipated reunion tour, including a stop in Knoxville, also for medical reasons.
In June, Ann Wilson announced that she had an operation to remove something cancerous and was advised to undergo preventative chemotherapy. Heart had been scheduled to play Food City Center Aug. 24, and rescheduled dates are expected to be announced for 2025.
