Former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Tracii Guns was recently interviewed by Eddie Trunk, and he discussed the first time Axl Rose was late to a show, and Duff McKagan’s reaction to it. Alternative Nation transcribed his comments. A Guns N’ Roses member revealed when Axl started ‘dictating’ to the band yesterday.
Guns: The next night was at The Waters Club in San Pedro and Axl [Rose] was real late, which was the first time he was late to anything. We were all awkward and uncomfortable already, we were all just like:
“Is he gonna show up, like what is going on?”
Guns: The show was fine and then Duff [McKagan] drove me home, Duff’s girlfriend Katarina drove us home. I told Duff on the way home:
“Is this cool?”
Guns: Duff was like:
“Yeah, did you see all the people?”
Guns: I said:
“No, no, what’s going on here?”
Then he goes:
“Yeah, I know Axl, that’s why we’re a band and then we have a singer.”
Guns: I’m like:
Guns: “Yeah but he’s like my best friend and I haven’t talked to him in like, eight days.”
Trunk: So he got real distant on you?
Guns: Duff got real distant from everything. Like he was just, newfound power.
Trunk: Because of the band and he was getting attention?
Guns: Oh yeah, lots of attention.
Trunk: So it kind of went to his head?
Guns: I mean, whatever caused it, yeah. Tracii Guns revealed who fired Axl Rose a few days ago
