A fan attending a recent Billy Corgan opera show in Chicago described how their experience was ruined by two disruptive audience members seated nearby.

The fan described a particularly frustrating encounter in the upper balcony, where a young woman and her mother “talked loudly, laughed at the performers, took videos, and texted” from the moment the show began.

Despite being politely confronted during intermission, the pair allegedly brushed off concerns, with the daughter responding, “So what, are you watching the show or watching me?”

The fan expressed disappointment that such discourteous behavior overshadowed an otherwise strong performance.

The attendee expressed disbelief at the lack of courtesy: “Not sure I understand the point of spending hundreds of dollars and trekking out into a blizzard to be a hater,” they wrote. “These performers train their entire lives, and everyone around you spent time, effort, and money to be there. The least you can do is be respectful.”

Another fan recalled a similar experience at a past Smashing Pumpkins concert in Nashville, where drunken fans mocked and lashed out at people who asked them to quiet down. Both incidents left a lasting negative impression on the concertgoers.

Billy Corgan recently did a seven-night takeover of Lyric Opera House in his Chicago hometown, at which he is reimagining ‘Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness’ alongside a 60-piece house orchestra.

The Smashing Pumpkins also recently released the 30th anniversary deluxe reissue of ‘Mellon Collie’, which included a 6LP package that offered over 80 minutes of unreleased audio from the album’s accompanying 1996 tour.
