Former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora tweeted today, “Pray on.. rough winds blowin.. thank you..to the firefighters, the first responders, paramedics, police, emergency service, neighbors, all who are saving lives. You all who spread the word around the world. Profound gratitude. You.”
As the fires continue to blaze through Los Angeles, Primus guitarist Larry LaLonde has revealed that he is unfortunately one of the many thousands of residents who have lost their home. In a recent instagram post, the musician shared an update along with a photo of his burnt-down house, writing:
“Well, we were bouncing around different ideas to remodel our home, but ultimately the Palisades fire decided on a more “open” floor plan. My mind is still trying to convince me this whole thing is real.
“As the losses in this fire trickle into my brain, it feels like being hit with a bag of rocks over and over, but the people around us make me feel like the luckiest mother f*cker on the planet. I don’t know how we could mentally survive this without the support of some amazing friends. Unfortunately this is a situation almost everyone in this town is in. Many unknowns here for now…..”
LaLonde’s Primus bandmate, frontman Les Claypool, also took to Instagram to announce the tragic news, writing:
“All that is left of our good friend Ler Lalonde’s home. When Mother Nature gets up on her hind legs, it can be brutal. My heart hurts for him and his family.”
Some of LaLonde and Claypool’s fellow musicians expressed their condolences for the guitarist in the comment section of the posts, including Police drummer Stewart Copeland who wrote: “Dang. Ler did not deserve this.”
Rush’s Geddy Lee and System of a Down’s Serj Tankian also expressed their sympathy for LaLonde and his family, commenting: “So very sorry Ler… hang in there brother ❤️” and “We’re so sorry for your loss Ler. Much love to the family,” respectively.
