Rumors have floated that Tico Torres has retired from Bon Jovi. Mitch Lafon revealed the rumor and noted that it remains unconfirmed.

Bon Jovi, a band with nearly 40 years of history, has experienced its fair share of public struggles. From guitarist Richie Sambora’s battles with addiction to Jon Bon Jovi’s admission of having a “breakdown” in the mid-’90s, the band’s challenges have often been visible alongside their significant achievements. While many issues have come to light, some have remained private.

Tico Torres, an original member of Bon Jovi, was born in New York on October 7, 1953. He first started playing drums at the age of 14 in 1967. After performing in several local bands in the late ’70s and early ’80s, Torres joined Bon Jovi in 1983, thanks to an introduction by bassist Alec John Such. Over the next 38 years, Torres and his bandmates recorded 15 studio albums and sold over 130 million records worldwide.

In a 2018 interview, Torres is quoted as saying, “We made a promise to ourselves: As long as it’s fun and as long as we have something to contribute musically together, why not do it? That’s where we’re at” (via Nola). With Bon Jovi releasing their 15th studio album, “Bon Jovi 2020,” last October, it appears Tico Torres, and the rest of the band, still have something to say.
