Late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell’s daughter, Toni Cornell recently shared a sweet tribute to her father on the anniversary of his death. Toni Cornell posted the tribute to her Instagram on Saturday, writing:
“7 years later, and I miss him and think of him everyday.
“In honor of my dad, I’ve decided to share some things that remind me of him, and fill up my heart because they make me feel like he’s still here ❤️
1. My eyebrows. This may seem strange, but we had identical eyebrows, and they are my favorite feature because they are his.
2. A blue jay that landed on a book hut in Central Park
3. This funny hat shop that we used to pass by. He loved funny hats.
4. This piazza in Rome, and specifically those steps. That’s the way we would take to get to the park.
5. The Beach Boys. We both went through a Beach Boys phase together
6. This tree. I’m not sure why, but it just made me think of him
7. Diet Coke. He always drank it and I would tell him how bad it was for him, however I am now a Diet Coke drinker myself.
8. Polo
9. My brother
10. The ocean
“Thank you for making the little time we had together so full ❤️ I love you so much”
Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell tragically passed away at the age of 52 by suicide in 2017. It happened just hours after, Cornell had played a full, 20-song Soundgarden gig at the Fox Theatre venue.
Toni is one of Cornell’s three children. He also had an 11-year-old son, Christopher, with Vicky. Well, from his first marriage to Susan Silver, he had a 17-year-old daughter, Lillian. The Cornell family, as Toni noted, viewed his death as an accident and previously claimed that the prescription drugs found in his system likely affected his mental state.
A month after the Soundgarden frontman died of suicide in his Detroit hotel room, his then-12-year-old posted an open letter to him on his Facebook page in honor of Father’s Day. It was the first time fans heard from her since his tragic death.
Cornell had served as the frontman of the Seattle grunge band Soundgarden from 1984 to 1997 and again from 2010 until his passing away. The band tasted massive success with their album, 1994’s ‘Superunknown’ which had charted at Number One in the US and sold nine million copies worldwide. Cornell later decided to become the frontman of Audioslave, who released three albums between 2002 and 2006. He also released four solo albums, the most recent of which, ‘Higher Truth’, came out in 2015. Cornell had even teamed up with Sting to perform several Soundgarden and The Police songs at a charity gig.
