Chris Cornell & Matt Cameron Were ‘Nervous’ Before One Of Last Performances

One year ago, Chris Cornell performed for the final time on television on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Cornell performed “The Promise” with his Soundgarden bandmate Matt Cameron on drums.

Matt Cameron has posted the following on Instagram:

“One year ago today-Chris performing The Promise on the Tonight Show. I was very happy he called me for this tv gig. The entire band was a little nervous before taping, the song had some very interesting twists and turns and like all of Chris’ songs, you HAVE to pay attention and let it flow at the same time. I thought the performance came off great. Well played brother. #chriscornell @esrailian #soundgarden #keepthepromise #tbt”

PearlJamOnline are reporting that for the first time since Chris Cornell’s death in May 2017, surviving Soundgarden members Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron will perform together.

Matt Cameron will perform at Northside Festival in Denmark on June 8th, 2018 as a special guest with MC5.

To celebrate the upcoming 50th anniversary of Kick Out the Jams, the legendary guitarist Wayne Kramer has gathered a new band around him, which he calls the MC50. The band will this summer go on the road with a setlist with all eight songs from the debut album plus favorites from MC5’s back catalog, and the band behind Kramer is pretty remarkable. It features guitarist Kim Thayil from Soundgarden, Don Was on bass and Marcus Durant from Zen Guerrilla on vocals. PearlJamOnline thanked Francesca and Carlo in their report.

Cameron and Thayil made their first public appearance together since Chris Cornell’s death last fall to support Vicky Cornell at a Human Rights Watch charity dinner as she accepted an award on behalf of her late husband. Ben Shepherd has yet to make any public appearance or statement since Cornell’s death, though he was photographed with Chris’ brother Peter Cornell in Seattle last year.
