Chris Cornell’s widow Vicky Cornell has reacted to news of a settlement with Chris’ doctor in a lawsuit leaked.

Vicky wrote on Chris’ Facebook, “Some of you may have read about the leaked court documents concerning my family’s settlement with Chris’ prescribing doctor. While my family is relieved that our dispute is finally on the verge of resolution, we will provide additional information once the settlement has been formally approved by the Court.

In the meantime, we continue to mourn Chris’ tragic and untimely death, and are focusing on changing the law to require doctors to be educated about the risks of prescribing Benzodiazepines to patients with a history of addiction.

Thank you for your continued love and support through these last 4 years.”

A fan named Pattie commented, “The doctors need to do a better job in diagnosis and prescriptions. Seems there is a pill for everything. Mental health needs to be just as important as cardiac problems. If they had done the right therapy from the start…who knows.? He might still be with us. Missing him every day. Funny, his music and words saved my life. I wish I could have done the same.”

Sarah added, “Interesting but that’s like maybe 2 a day of Ativan. Most doctors give 3 to 4 a day. I’m wondering what strength was given. So very sad he died but without Ativan my life wouldn’t be livable. Maybe the doctor was trying to help him like my doctor does. If they aren’t told your past and present its not the doctors fault.”
